Michael Lehnen’s love affair with the guitar began at 14. He walked out of a music store with his first guitar—and had learned his first two chords before he got home. By 23, he’d signed a U.S. record deal and was touring, recording, and working as a session guitarist in Nashville and Muscle Shoals, the heartlands of American music.

After a chance online connection with his now-wife—an Australian with a shared love of music—Michael made the move to Australia and began a new chapter. He opened a music store in Newcastle and quickly discovered a passion for teaching. Helping students build confidence and enjoy the journey became just as rewarding as performing.

With decades of experience in recording studios, on stage, and in the classroom, Michael founded Beaches Guitar Studio to share what he’s learned in a down-to-earth, supportive environment. His approach is patient, practical, and tailored to each student—whether they’re strumming their first chord or chasing their next breakthrough.

For Michael, it’s not just about playing guitar. It’s about unlocking creativity, building confidence, and passing on the joy that music has brought to his life.
